Konoba Demijana
is a unique object in our "Little place" - Sutivan.It is situated
in a small street known in Dalmatia as "kala".Only 15 m separates
it from center of town - port,but yet it has preserved peace and quiet.Konoba
Demijana is trying to demonstrate You the way our ancestors used to live.When
You enter the doors of Konoba Radmilovic,You have won a journey in a time
- machine which will return you more than hundred years ago.
Since
the house was built(at the beginning of the 20th century)ground - floor was
always a room for association.When my grandfather returned from Santiago de
Chile in 1931.(11 years of hard work) he bought the house from the man who was
living of sale of salted fish(he was selling them in the ground - floor of the
house).Then,my grandfather turned groundfloor into a bakery. Many years after
the Second World War my grandfather has changed career and the ground - floor
has become a place in which he was selling his agriculture products.
But,this room served as room for "fraje"(feasts) for every generation
of family Radmilović.It is impossible to count how many people has spend time
in that place but all of them have kept joyful memories of the konoba in their
hearts.
Konoba
Demijana is offering to You only few products:red
and white wine,every kind of home brandy,special cheese,"pršut"(Dalmatian
ham) and "slane srdele"(salted fish).All of these products
are manufactured by family Radmilović which has centuries of experience in agriculture.
After drying,the cheese is stored in stone vessels for oil where it stays in
olive oil."Pršut"(Dalmatian ham) is processed in a special way and
it is then dried and smoked in the home fire - place.Tradition and technique
of wine - making has not changed in centuries,so our wine is made on the same
way our ancestors have made it.
It
is not just a phrase that we like to see people with smile on their faces while
they are in konoba Demijana.To see happy,relax and smiled people is a truly
great feeling and a big satisfaction for us.Also,it is very interesting to see
how people are intercoursing one to each other regardless of their nationality,age,occupation
and social status.The one and only allowed difference among people in konoba
Demijana is manifest in singing:everyone of us cannot sing like Luciano Pavarotti
but most of us can sing some common songs.We hope that someday You will enjoy

Here
the morphology of karst offers all its variants,from severe karst, Mediterranean
maquis with ilex and juniper and the woods of the black pine that grows only
on heights with thousands of pine cones.You will pass by the herd of mules wandering
freely around,you will hear the bells dangling from the neck of the bellwether
which together with the sheep is searching for the fragrant grass of the peak.
